Zhytomyr is not a big city, but with a great historical heritage. The name of the city of Zhytomyr went either on behalf of the tycoon of the Kiv princes Askold and Dir - Zhytomyr, who killed his own rulers, fled and founded this city. Or from the fact that there was a trade in bread in this territory. That is true from this - it is certainly not known. However, whatever it may be, the date of the city's founding is 884th.

the house-museum of the great scientist was opened in 1970 in Zhytomyr, Dmitrievskaya Street, 5. The time when he was growing up was recreated in the house, and the Sergey Korolev Museum of Cosmotnautics was located not far from the house. Here is described in detail and shown the way of cosmonautics from its origin to our day. Nowhere else in Ukraine will you see a capsule with the moon's ground given by NASA. Korosten' town

Only in an hour from the center of Zhytomyr is a town Korosten' (former legendary ancient Iskorosten). On the slopes of granite rocks nowadays there is a city recreation park. On the it's peak in the 8th and 13th centuries was the chronicle Iskorosten town. On the place of the ancient fortress a model of wooden fortifications of the ancient town was built. There is also a monument to Drevlyany medieval prince Mal. On the bank of the river at the foot of the rock - a monument to the Kiv's princess Olga, who, according to legend, spent the last years of her life in the city, which was destroyed by her before.

Picturesque landscapes near the natural bath on the river met visitors. But inside the granite rocks a military entourage awaits you. Here is a military-historical complex, organized in a real bunker "Skelya" (rock). The doors of a bunker, weighing three tons, can not break even with a modern gun. Over the bunker - one and a half meters of concrete, 10 meters of granite and 15 meters of sand with clay! This underground complex was built in the 30's of the 20th century. The existence of this object was kept in strict secrecy for a long time. Bunker "Skelia" (rock) has three tiers. But fully explored and open to visitors only one - the middle. The corridor of this level extends by almost 200 meters. In the middle tier are 30 rooms, each with its own exposition. The command post is completely autonomous and equipped with the most advanced technologies of that time: vent system (which is still in working condition), generators for electricity supply, own water reserve, water supply and sewerage.

The program also has traditional competitions and entertainments, exhibitions and performances by creative teams.

Trigirsky Holy Transfiguration Monastery

The monastery is in the forest, far from people, on the edge of the rocky Cape of the River Teteriv. this is one of the most compact medieval monasteries. Its shrine is the miraculous icon of Our Lady "Trigorskaya". According to legend, she appeared at a source near the monastery. Previously, the monastery was the most important after Pochiv Lavra.

The Radomyshl Castle Museum
is located in the Zhytomyr region in the small town of Radomyshl. In 1612 the monks built "Papirnya" - a factory for making paper for the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Monks very carefully chose the place for the construction of the workshop. It was built as a powerful defensive construction on a granite rock. So, proudly resisted the attackers and before the time. The wellspring of fresh and clear water drove directly from the rock inside the construction. This source is still in the castle Radomysl. It's in the concert hall, behind the piano.
It was on Radomyshl's paper workshop that the first book  "Chasoslov" was made in Kyiv.
"Papirnia" was destroyed in the 17th century during the Cossack uprisings. In the beginning of the 20th century a mill was built on its basement and wall, which worked until the First World War. In 2012, the castle was restored.
In the castle you can take part in a master class for making paper, as well as visit the museum of home icons (5,000 exhibits are displayed).
According to legend, if to rise without a stop on the tower of the castle Radomysl, which has 138 steps, to look at the Island of Love, strike the bell and make a wish - it will surely come true.
